Taylor Cuenin

Why did you choose to commit to this college? I chose to commit to UC Davis because of its welcoming atmosphere, amazing academic opportunities, and its competitive lacrosse program. I knew right away it was somewhere I wanted to invest the next four years of my life. The coaches and players seem so enthusiastic, determined, and supportive of one another. I can't wait to surround myself with people who are willing to take me to the next level in both academics and lacrosse.

After going through the recruiting process, what are some helpful tips you would give others who are about to go through this process? I would tell others who are trying to get recruited to never give up on a school you want until you have a clear answer from them. Whether you have your heart set on somewhere or have no idea where you want to go, keep pushing yourself to be your best. Also, make sure you select a school where you can picture yourself being happy for four years with or without lacrosse. Remember to work hard to set goals for yourself and never stop striving towards them because who knows what opportunities may be right around the corner.

What do you like best about 3d Lacrosse? What I like best about 3d lacrosse is its sense of community and its amazing resources and opportunities. Everyone within the program is dedicated to helping others as well as themselves to improve on a variety of levels. The 3d coaches have taught me so many valuable things that I can carry through my lacrosse career and beyond. Lastly, the 3d program is extremely organized and structured, which makes practices and games run very smoothly and successfully.

What was your favorite part of 3d training? My favorite part of 3d training is the line drills. They are high intensity, fast-paced, and really help warm up throwing and catching before games and practices.

What is your favorite subject in school?
My favorite subject in school is science. I have always found an interest in life sciences such as biology.

Name one thing that you could not live without. I couldn’t live without the Christmas season.

If you had to choose one super power to have, what would it be and why? I would want to have the power to think of any food and have it appear right then because I love eating food basically all the time.

What are some of your pregame rituals and/or game day superstitions? Before every game I put a slip of paper in my sock with a motivational quote or saying on it that I can think of throughout the game to pump me up. Also, I can never play a game without a headband. Lastly, my high school team has a miniature Buddha that we pass around and rub the belly for good luck on game day.

What is your favorite vacation spot? My favorite vacation spot is Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe. Our cabin there is my home away from home that has been a part of me since I was four. I spend a ton of time there with family and friends in both the winter and summer. During the winter I snow ski, ice skate, build snowmen, and eat cookies. In summertime we usually go boating, tubing, waterskiing, and hiking.

What is your favorite food? My favorite food is by far bacon. My obsession is somewhat concerning.

Who is your favorite athlete? My favorite athlete is Hunter Pence who is a right fielder for the San Francisco Giants.

Who is your favorite musician? My favorite musician is Jack Johnson.

What is the last book you read? The last book I read was Insurgent by Veronica Roth.

What is your favorite quote? “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” ~ Oscar Wilde

Who has been your biggest influence? My biggest influence has probably been all my teammates over all the years I have played lacrosse. I wouldn't be where I am today without them and their constant support for me and one another. Without lacrosse I would've missed out on meeting some incredible people who I will never forget.
